The WAYS Interiors Lead Interior Designer is accountable for overseeing the entire design process for a project, leading a team of designers by guiding creative direction, managing project execution, ensuring design consistency, collaborating with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality visual solutions that align with project goals and client needs; essentially acting as the creative leader on a design team, providing mentorship and ensuring the overall aesthetic vision is realized across all design aspects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years of experience in commercial or residential Interior Design or closely related field
3-5 years of experience in a leadership role; preferably leading a team of multiple individuals
Positive, approachable, and professional attitude
Strong leadership skills
Must be highly skilled, creative, and self-motivated individual who is a team player
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks for a team
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfort and confidence in presentation and public speaking
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines using excellent time management
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Lead Interior Designer for WAYS Interiors you must have a proven track record as an exceptional designer, an understanding of design and furniture at a deep level, and demonstrate expertise across many design disciplines. You must be able to work alongside others, including internal teammates, external vendors and trades, bringing a forward-thinking and ambitious mindset that allows us to grow better together. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and encourage innovation, while ensuring our projects don’t lose speed or quality. Particularly important to the role are the oral and written communication and presentation skills to articulately express the rationale behind design decisions and close sales. The following are the various responsibilities of the Lead Interior Designer:
Coordinate with Leadership to assist with defining and maintaining internal goals and processes
Willing to work on and lead a team through various projects from concept to completion
Lead internal and external team meetings as needed, providing clear, concise and actionable agendas and communication
Work with Leadership to coordinate design projects through all phases of design: Conceptual, Schematic, Development, Construction, and Final Finishing
Communicate project updates regularly to leadership and cross functional teams such as the status of each project, potential issues, risks, etc.
Lead the design team and support in creating overall interior design concepts and design presentation from the initial concepts to sales strategies
Lead the design team in strategies to ensure the overall success of projects, including being on time, on budget, and to an exceptional level of design, operational, or client-experience quality
Oversee and lead on-site design installations
Serve clients in the WAYS Interiors Design Studio and at client home appointments
Oversee and lead the design team in space planning, square footage, and elevation calculations
Assist with site checks, as needed (example: checking in on the progress of various installs, etc.)
Work with the Admin Assistant to stay apprised of all client orders from proposal to delivery
Review and approve all designer Product Proposals and Order documentation
Provide clear and concise coaching and mentorship to the design team
Create action Items from meetings and appropriately delegate to the design team
Work professionally and efficiently with all departments that create the WAYS Interiors Team
Timely report to work as scheduled by Leadership
Complete all other duties as assigned by Leadership
Possible overtime or travel may be required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
College degree preferred
At least 3-5 years related experience is preferred.
